Teenage Girl Shot During Anderson Home Invasion

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a teenage girl late Sunday night during a home invasion.

Deputies were called to a home on Burris Street just before midnight. According to an incident report obtained from the Sheriff’s Office, the 17-year-old was found lying on the driveway of the home with a gunshot wound to her abdomen when deputies arrived.

A witness at the scene says two men and the teen forced their way into the house after knocking on the door. They then forced two people to the kitchen floor and hit one in the head with a pistol.

She was left alone in the kitchen with a gun when one of the residents in the home says he tackled her and took the gun away, according to the incident report. Puckett was shot during the struggle and the men ran out of the home.

“In this situation it was more of an isolated incident, said Anderson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chad McBride. “I would think in this situation the nearby residents won’t have anything to worry about. Of course we don’t want these two individuals on the street either.”

Investigators say they have received numerous tips and believe they are close to identifying the suspects. If you have any information that may help investigators, call Anderson County Crimestoppers at (864) 260-4400.
