UPDATE: Gaffney Man Fires On Intruders Breaking Into His Home
About 8:48 PM Wednesday night, Deputies responded to a report of a Home Invasion and Shooting at a residence located on Corn Mill Road in the Mayo community. Upon arrival Deputies and Investigators learned that three men had come to the residence and attempted to gain entry into the home by forcing their way through a window. The homeowner and two women inside the home knew the three men and told them to leave the property. The men refused and continued to try and gain entry into the home. The homeowner, who was in fear of his safety and the safety of the other two occupants of the house, retrieved a shotgun and shot one of the men in the lower leg. At this time the three men ceased any further attempts to force entry into the home. The individual that was shot, Steven McCoy LeGrande, Gaffney, SC, was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Mr. LeGrande and the two other men, Jordan
Nathaniel Ray Derosia, Gaffney, SC and Andrew Scott Reed Savage, Gaffney, SC have been charged with one count each of Burglary 1st Degree. Mr. Derosia and Mr. Savage have been arrested and are currently in the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. Mr. LeGrande is still in the hospital recovering from his wound. Upon his release from the hospital he will be transported to the detention center. The homeowner, Mr. Jeremy Keith Lowe, will not face any charges related to the shooting of Mr. LeGrande. The investigation of the case revealed that Mr. LeGrande and the other two men had come to the residence because Mr. LeGrande was upset with Mr. Lowe over a disagreement involving a woman.
