SPARTANBURG MAN RECEIVES 10-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR LEWD ACT
A Spartanburg man received a 10-year prison sentence for inappropriately touching a child in a sexual manner. Samuel D. Bagwell, 63, pleaded guilty to lewd act on a minor on Monday. Bagwell inappropriately touched a 10-year-old child from the neighborhood on four different occasions between Sept. 1, 2006 and Feb. 16, 2007 when the allegation was eported to the Sheriff’s Office. The victim described the criminal acts in detail during a forensic examination at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Spartanburg. Bagwell failed a polygraph exam administered by a sheriff’s deputy. Afterward, he admitted to being sexually aroused when the child sat in his lap. Bagwell had no prior criminal record.
