Pickens County Officers participate in Competition

For the third time in four years, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post #2138 placed 1 Overall in the annual week long competition held for members of the South Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers (“S.C.A.L.E.”).  The competition is hosted each year by a different law enforcement agency within the State.  This year’s events were hosted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.  The competition consists of actors role playing in practical scenarios which tests the Explorers’ law enforcement response skills.  The events range from individual competitions in legals knowledge and weapons proficiency to team competitions such as service of a drug search warrant and more.  The events are judged by area law enforcement officers and the participants are critiqued and scored. In this year’s competition, PCSO Explorer Post #2138 came home with 2 place in Team Pistols, 1 place in Crisis Intervention, tied for 1 place in Escaped Inmate with the Anderson Police Department Explorer Post, and 1 place Overall.  Last year, the Pickens County Post came in first runner up at the competition that was held in Summerville.
