Job Seekers with Criminal Records Can Get Help at Workshop

What is an expungement? What is a pardon? What offenses can be expunged and which can be pardoned? Find your answers to this and more.

A workshop on how to get a pardon or expungement of criminal records will be held Monday October 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Industrial Business and Development Center, Room 127 of Tri-County Technical College, HWY 76, Pendleton, SC.

Representatives from the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services will be there with details on pardons. A representative from the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will be there to explain how to obtain an expungement.

A pardon clears any legal impediments for a person who wants to obtain certain jobs and professional licenses, and provies other legal advantages in the state. (However, it is not needed to register to vote.)

An expungement clears the criminal record of convictions obtain in South Carolina. The differences between the two and how to obtain them will be explained at the conference.
