Man Faces Murder Charges in Greenville
Twenty eight year old Zacharia Atle Pearson of Pelzer will face Murder Charges after an incident that occured on July 25 at 12 Kathy’s way in Piedmont. According to witnesses, Pearson and the twenty four year old victim were engaged in a verbal argument. Pearson reportedly walked into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, then walked over to the victim and began stabbing her in the upper chest and neck region. The knife Pearson was using reportedly broke, so he turned his attention to the male occupant at the residence, as well as his female acquaintance. While Pearson was assaulting these two individual by punching and head butting them, the female stabbing victim fled the residence and made her way to 521 Dalton Rd., where she collapsed on the front porch and died. The two assault victims were able to flee the residence and hide nearby until deputies arrived on the scene.
Shortly after the incident occurred, Pearson fled the residence and walked on to the property at 533 Dalton Rd. The male subject, who was outside of his residence, heard noises down the road and walked toward the edge of his property to see what was going on. Pearson, who was armed with a pipe in one hand, and an unknown object in his other hand, charged the resident, who retreated towards his residence. The resident made it to his back deck, and turned around to see Pearson charging and yelling at him. The male resident, who was lawfully carrying a weapon due to the fact that he has a concealed weapon’s permit holder, shot Pearson two times after realizing that his safety, and possibly his life was in jeopardy. The shooting of Pearson is being investigated as a separate, but related incident to the 12 Kathy’s way homicide. At this time the individual who shot Pearson is not facing any charges.
