Fugitive Arrested On Murder Charge 06/02/10
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and officers who serve on a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force on Wednesday, June 2 arrested a 47-year-old Charlotte, N.C. woman who was wanted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Police Department on arrest warrants on charges of murder, incest and accessory after the fact to a felony.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested Dawn Michelle Ward, 47, of 8101 Providence Court Lane, Apartment 201, Charlotte, N.C., without incident at 4:01 p.m. on Wednesday at the home of Ward’s parents. Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives developed information that Ward was at her parents’ home at 206 Stamford Bridge Road near Irmo. Detectives requested assistance from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Marshals Service in arresting Ward.
Ward was being held on Wednesday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting extradition to Charlotte, Metts said. Ward signed a waiver of extradition to Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives obtained arrest warrants for Ward on Wednesday, Metts said. Questions concerning the arrest warrants should be addressed to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Police Department.
