FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In late March and early April, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office received a number of reports of auto breakings and larcenies on Twin Lakes Road, Clemson. A joint investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) led to warrants being issued on Orin Jerel Simpson Kemp, Jeanesse Diane Kemp, Clarence Luke Watkins, Jr., Joshua A. Sargent, and Lorin A. Sargent.

Orin Jerel Simpson Kemp has been charged with three counts of Auto Breaking, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, one count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud, one count of Grand Larceny, and three counts of Simple Larceny. Simpson is currently being held by the Anderson City Police Department on unrelated charges. Pickens County warrants will be served when he is released from Anderson.

Jeanesse Diane Kemp has been charged with two counts of Auto Breaking, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, one count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud, one count of Grand Larceny, and one count of Simple Larceny. On May 12, 2010, these warrants were served on Kemp and she remains in the Pickens County Detention Center on $13,500 surety bond.

Clarence Luke Watkins, Jr. has been charged with one count of Auto Breaking, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, one count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud, and one count of Simple Larceny. On May 13, 2010, these warrants were served on Watkins. He was released from the Pickens County Detention Center on a $9,000 personal recognizance bond.

Joshua Allan Sargent has been charged with two counts of Auto Breaking, one count of Grand Larceny, and two counts of Simple Larceny. On May 14, 2010, these warrants were served on Watkins. He was released from the Pickens County Detention Center on a $9,000 personal recognizance bond.

Lorin Ashleigh Sargent has been charged with two counts of Auto Breaking, one count of Grand Larceny, and two counts of Simple Larceny. These warrants have not yet been served.

Clemson University Police Department also has charges against Orin Jerel Simpson Kemp and Jeanesse Kemp.
