Woman Escapes from Carjacker in Charleston

On December 5, 2011 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a carjacking and assault that occurred on Savannah Hwy. in Ravenel. The victim advised that she was getting out of her vehicle, a maroon 1996 Acura, at her residence, when an unknown male approached and stuck and object against the victim’s back stating it was a gun. The suspect demanded the victim get into the passenger side of the vehicle and the suspect got behind the wheel leaving the location.

The suspect drove the victim down several roads before stopping on Hyde Park Road, where the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, at which point the suspect grabbed the victim by the neck. The victim was eventually able to break away from the suspect and flee from the vehicle. The victim declined treatment by EMS. The suspect fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. Suspect described as an African American male, 5-11, 170, black hair, in his mid 20’s to early 30’s.
