SPIRIT OF GIVING CHALLENGE

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will present members of the Stratton Place Neighborhood Watch with an award on Tuesday, March 1 in recognition of their efforts to collect food and toys for the annual Sheriff’s Department Christmas Holiday Food and Toy Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts will present the award at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at the Stratton Place Neighborhood Watch meeting at Seven Oaks Park at 200 Leisure Lane near Irmo.

Resident deputies in the North Region Patrol District, which is based near Irmo, conducted the Spirit of Giving Challenge in order to help collect non-perishable food items and toys that were distributed by Harvest Hope Food Bank and the Salvation Army to persons who were in need of assistance, Metts said. The Stratton Place subdivision won the challenge for subdivisions with less than 100 homes, donating 483 pounds of food as well as toys and clothes.

The Spirit of Giving Challenge reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
