Spartanburg Man Arrested After Firing and Threatening Woman With Gun

Spartanburg Public Safety Officers responded to Bomar Avenue and Sunny Street in reference to a shots fired called. Officers received information that the subject and the vehicle left the scene before they arrived. The vehicle and the suspect were later located on Rosemary Road.

On August 16, 2011, around 3:56pm, officers from the Spartanburg Public Safety Department responded to Bomar Avenue and Sunny Street in reference to shots fired. Officers received information that the suspect fired several shots at a female before leaving the scene. It was reported that the female victim left the location with the suspect in a white Cadillac. A citizen in the area witnessed the incident and followed the suspect while relaying information to
the police. Members of the Spartanburg Public Safety Department were able to locate the white Cadillac on Rosemary Road; they made contact with the victim and the suspect.

The investigation of this incident revealed that an argument occurred between the victim and the suspect. Witnesses reported that the suspect fired several shots at the female before putting the handgun to her head. The victim refused to communicate with the police and would not give a statement. The suspect, Jermaine Giles Brown of Rosemary Road, was arrested and transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center. The weapon used in the incident was recovered at the home. Jermaine Giles Brown has been charged with Discharging
a Firearm in the City. Officers will also make attempts to seek warrants on other domestic related charges.
