One Year Old Struck by Vehicle on Edisto Island
On June 22, 2012, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Hwy 174 and Hwy 164 in reference to a one year old that was struck by a vehicle on Hwy 174 on Edisto Island. Investigation at this point has determined that the one year old was initially in a vehicle with the parent and in the course of removing an item from the vehicle the child was placed outside of the car.
The driver wasn’t aware that the child was not in the vehicle and began to leave the driveway striking the child. The child sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by the family to Hwy 174 and Hwy 164 to meet with Charleston County EMS for transport to an area hospital for evaluation.

I have a child and i dont understand how a parent doesnt realize that their child is not in the vehicle. Thats just like parents say when they leave a child in a car that oh they forgot they were still in there and the child dies. There is no excuse.
