Fight for Air Climb: Columbia

On Saturday, May 21, 2011, 14 firefighters from Lexington County Fire Service participated in the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb: Columbia. They climbed the stairs of the 25-story Capital Center building at 1201 Main Street in Columbia wearing full firefighting gear. The “Lexington County Challenge Team” was the leading fundraising team for the event, raising $3,800. Back row: A/O Rollie Reynolds, FF Brandon Bower , FF/Paramedic Josh Parsons, A/O Tony Feraci. “On Air For Air,” the second Lexington County Fire Service team, raised $1,759. Team members were FF Matt Hamilton, FF Michael Hendrix, FF John Ringo, FF Wes Shepard, and A/O Michael Smith. Captain Chris Ballington was the leading individual fund raiser, collecting $2,265. Kyle Markey came in second place of all firefighters with a time of 4:41:15.
