Newberry County Deputy Involved In Single Vehicle Accident.

A Newberry County Deputy has been involved in a single vehicle accident this morning on South Carolina Highway 34 near the intersection of South Carolina Highway 34 and South Carolina Highway 121 in Silverstreet. The accident occurred just after 8am this morning.

The officer was on duty; however, he was not responding to a call at the time the accident. The officer was transported to Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office has identified the officer as Christopher Irons. Irons is an 8 year veteran of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office. The accident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The cause of the accident has not been determined.
