COPS ON TOP OF DOUGHNUT SHOPS

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and officers with other law enforcement agencies collected $9,573 in donations during a Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser that the officers conducted for South Carolina Special Olympics on Thursday, September 23, Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 at a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop at 1200 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce. All proceeds from the event will benefit South Carolina Special Olympics.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies worked at the doughnut shop in four-hour shifts on Thursday and Friday, beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 10 p.m., Metts said. Deputies worked at the doughnut shop in three-hour shifts on Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. Deputies accepted donations from customers, with the money donated to South Carolina Special Olympics.

Deputies’ participation in the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
