Assistance Sought In Locating Missing Person

The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your assistance is located a missing person whose family is concerned about his well being.

William Thomas Bowie, 33, of 246 Point Circle Road, Prosperity, SC was last seen on June 1, 2011 at about 5:30PM, when he left saying that he was going into Prosperity to play basketball. Bowie contacted his mother at about 11:30 and then shortly thereafter let her know that he had let someone borrow his car.

On June 2, 2011, at around 7:50AM Bowie sent two text messages to his family that caused the family great concern for Bowie’s well being. The messages are too personal to release; however, they certainly contain language that led them to believe that Bowie may harm himself.

Bowie is described as a white male, 5’09” to 5’10” tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has blond hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a peach colored polo style shirt and blue jean pants.

Bowie often goes by the name Billy.

He was driving a 2002 Pewter color Chevrolet Trailblazer with South Carolina Plates HFH519. It is not clear if he is still driving the vehicle.
