Student Loan Fraud Case in Greer

On 6/29, a fraud report was filed by Amaziah Drummond stating that he had applied online for some student loans and received a phone call from an individual who identified himself with the Federal Loan Office. Drummond said the man insisted he qualified for a loan of $5000 and that he needed to wire the total cost of the taxes to a location in India. Drummond then went to Bi Lo and used Western Union and faxed the below amounts on the stated dates to Balhi, India.

6/24/2011 – $300
6/25/2011 – $785
6/25/2011 – $835
6/25/2011 – $815

Drummond provided a written statement and receipts where money was sent from Western Union.
