Spartanburg SWAT Called To Barricaded Home

About 9:00 AM yesterday morning, Deputies attempted to serve a Spartanburg County Magistrate Court Bench Warrant on a charge of Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle on an individual residing on Anchor Street in the Fairforest Community of Spartanburg County. While a Deputy was knocking on the door of the residence he heard what sounded like a single gunshot. The three Deputies on scene immediately retreated a safe distance from the residence and called for assistance. A short time later a team from the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team arrived on scene. A SWAT Team member entered the residence and found a male inside who was deceased. Investigators from the Coroner’s Office, The Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit and the Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit are on scene and are in the process of gathering information. There were no shots fired by any Deputy on scene. The identity of the deceased individual is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
