Spartanburg Mother Charged with Child Abuse

An Investigator assigned to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified that a teenage boy who suffers from a mental condition was being locked in a room in his home by his mother. The Investigator and a Deputy assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division responded to the residence and found no one else at home but the teenage boy who was locked in his bedroom. When the Investigator and the Deputy entered the room they noticed a very strong odor of urine and feces. The boy was placed into Emergency Protective Custody and transported to a medical facility that is equipped to treat his mental and physical condition. The facts of the case were presented to a Magistrate Judge who issued an Arrest Warrant for the child’s mother, Leslie Carson Geter, on one count of Child Neglect. Ms. Geter was arrested and transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center where she is in jail on a $20,000.00 bond.
