Child Pornography Arrest in Buncombe County

On May 19, 2011 Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and the Asheville Police Department arrested Stephen Schmid of Ed Debruhl Road, Alexander NC. Schmid was charged with three counts of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a Minor and Manufacturing Marijuana. His bond is set at $65,000 secure.

The NC State Bureau of Investigation received a “Cybertip” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone was attempting to upload child pornography to Facebook, Inc. The NC SBI contacted local law enforcement.

Buncombe County sheriff’s investigators and Asheville Police Detectives served a search warrant at 83 Ed DeBruhl road and subsequently arrested Mr. Schmid.
